STAN STEWARDSON BASKETBALL ENDOWMENT
Est. 2004

While Stan Stewardson starred at UBC as a soccer and baseball player, and he was an accomplished lacrosse player, he became a central figure in BC basketball circles. Stewardson coached the North Delta Huskies boys basketball squad for 10 years, making it to two consecutive provincial finals (winning it all in 1971). He assumed the head coaching duties at SFU in 1975. During nine seasons over two separate terms, he produced some of the strongest teams in SFU history, coaching 11 players who went on to play for the national men's program and 16 who played pro basketball. Among those were Canadian hero Terry Fox and NBA coach Jay Triano. His record at SFU was 149-131.
